Transition To College Class
Do you have a high school senior who has ADHD and/or anxiety?
Are you concerned about their transition to college?
Do they need more help from you in their life and academics than you would expect at this stage?
Do they have difficulty performing consistently in school due lack of motivation?
Are they reluctant to ask for and use help?
Do they take their medication as prescribed?
If so, you and your student are invited to participate in the transition to college class I created just for you. The course has four sessions; three sessions for students who are seniors in high school, and one session for their parents.
What we will cover:

This first class will begin with a college readiness quiz and define what college readiness means. We will discuss necessary life skills, academic skills, and social-emotional readiness.

This class will be all about executive function. Using an online assessment tool your students’ will evaluate their executive function strengths and weaknesses. We will discuss some strategies to amplify their strong executive skills and compensate for those that are weaker.

This class is about campus resources and the importance of finding social groups. Each student will leave with a written plan to help them plug into campus resources quickly and easily.

This class is for parents only and will cover three topics:
- A summary of what was covered in the students’ classes.
- An overview of how to assess your student’s readiness for college, how to prepare for an easier transition and when to consider a gap year.
- How to emotionally support them and when to share your expectations of them academically and financially.
